Barre

Where strength meets grace. Barre is a low-impact, full-body workout that blends elements of ballet, Pilates, and yoga to improve posture, flexibility, and balance. With a focus on alignment, control, and fluidity, you’ll refine your movement quality and start moving like a dancer—no tutu or dance background required!

Beast Mode 18+

“Beast Mode Fitness" is an exercise program for male and female teens/young adults with autism who want to learn how to become more physically active in their lives. The program seeks to provide motivated individuals with the opportunity to learn about personal fitness, health and well-being by building self-confidence through goal development and achievement. 
Beast Mode is offered in a private gym here on the U of C campus. The first session consists of a standard fitness assessment to determine baseline fitness levels. Goal setting is also discussed.
Based on your experience and goals, the head trainer will design a safe and effective, training plan to meet your needs - focused on strength development, aerobic conditioning, as well as flexibility and balance. The program is monitored and progressed based on feedback each session.
Each session will be lead by a U of C certified trainer with assistance from volunteers provided from the University through Better Impact. Although a ratio of 1-to-1 is our goal, ratios will be subject to volunteer numbers.

Body and Weights Burn

Build endurance and core strength using tempo-based training and using the full complement of studio equipment that is available. This music-driven class focuses on controlled, full-body movements that challenge your muscular endurance, stability, and coordination. With an emphasis on the core and sustained effort over time, Body & Weights Burn will leave you feeling strong, energized, and supported—no heavy weights or high-impact power drills required. Suitable for all fitness levels.

Boxing Fit

Give us 50 minutes and we'll give you sweat, stress release and a community! Join your instructors for Boxing Fit to learn elements of kickboxing techniques, in a full body workout using various equipment in a HIIT (high intensity interval training) style format. Expect shadow boxing, work with stationary heavy bags, bodyweight moves, weights and more. Each class offers variety to keep you on your toes while you progress throughout the semester!

Campus Calisthenics

Start your weekend strong with Campus Calisthenics an energizing outdoor group fitness class that blends calisthenics-style bodyweight training with brand-new outdoor fitness equipment paired with small portable equipment—all set in the crisp, refreshing air of fall.

This circuit-based class builds strength, endurance, and mobility through dynamic, scalable exercises like pull-ups, dips, squats, and core work. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned mover, Campus Calisthenics delivers a high-reward workout in a motivating group atmosphere.

Bonus: Take advantage of cheaper Saturday parking rates on campus and make it even easier to show up and crush your goals.

Cardio Dance

Release the endorphins, energize and dance it out in this high-energy, feel-good fitness class set to your favorite beats. Perfect for shaking off the day, Cardio Dance combines easy-to-follow choreography with non-stop movement to boost your endurance, coordination, and mood. No dance experience needed—just bring your energy, let the music move you, and leave feeling lighter, stronger, and recharged. All fitness levels welcome.

Chiseled - HIIT

Join us for Chiseled - HIIT! Build your strength, endurance and lifting know-how using bars, plates and free weights in this effective group weight training and cardio HIIT (high intensity interval training) program. The weight room comes into the studio to work specific strength-based movements and increase cardio capacity, while utilizing all major muscle groups. Focus is on technique to ensure you get your sweat on in a safe and informative environment!   

Chiseled - Strength

Build your strength, endurance and confidence in this fun, and energetic class. Expect the use of bars, plates, and free weights as we bring the gym to the studio in this weightlifting focused group class. Notice progression throughout as the instructor guides you through a full body workout. Open to all fitness levels. 

CIRCL Mobility™

CIRCL Mobility™ is a fitness program with a focus on improving flexibility, breathwork and overall mobility. It's designed to help individuals move better, feel better, and live better by releasing tension, restoring range of motion, and renewing the body's potential. CIRCL Mobility™ is often described as a modern approach to traditional stretching, incorporating mindfulness and functional movement science. This class is suitable for all fitness levels.

Circuit Bootcamp

An interval training class that mixes muscle strengthening exercises and cardio to get your heart pumping. With a new workout every week, these classes are designed to challenge participants in new ways and to always keep the body guessing.
 

Core and Restore

Core and restore is your perfect mix of spicy core strengthening followed by relaxing yoga and stretching. If you have a busy schedule and want to get the best of both worlds in one, then this class is for you! Join us for your favorite blend of strength and stretch. Expect a variety of core strengthening movements using weights, gliders, blocks, and more plus a yin yoga style cool down/ stretch. 

Cycle and Strength

Enjoy this full-body workout with a focus on core, strength, and endurance. This workout will incorporate cardiovascular training on the bike with variety of interval drills of hills, sprints, climbs and more. Plus, off-the-bike resistance training to improve your strength. Get the best of both worlds by combining indoor cycling and strength training. Suitable for all levels.

Dance-Fit Zumba

Ditch the workout and join the party! Easy to follow steps coincide with a celebration of Latin and world music to provide a workout that will leave you sweaty and smiling!

Follow Up HealthyU

Continue to stay active following the Initial program.  These effective, small group training sessions are designed to continue where you left off, promoting lifelong physical activity. 

Gluteus and Core

Target your powerhouse muscles—your glutes and core—with focused, intentional strength work. This class combines bodyweight exercises with equipment like barbells, dumbbells, BOSU balls, and medicine balls to help you build stability, endurance, and control. Expect low-impact, high-burn sequences that challenge your core and lower body while supporting better posture and movement in daily life. A strong, energizing start to your week—perfect for all fitness levels.

Hard Core

This functional fitness workout is designed to strengthen and tone your core muscles. Using bodyweight, free weights, stability balls, flex bands, and more, you’ll target the abs, back, and pelvic muscles to build stability and strength. The class emphasizes proper form and encourages you to safely push your personal limits for optimal results.

Holiday Fun Fitness

'tis the season for Holiday Fun Fitness! With all the excitement of the end of term and the holiday season, why not join us and burn off some of that extra excitement at one of our many group fitness classes.
Holiday Fun Fitness is a schedule designed to keep you moving during exam time. It previews some of the winter term classes, as well as the classics with a sprinkling of brand new formats.

Get started with HealthyU! Whether you're looking to learn more about fitness and nutrition, to rebuild your routine, or for a community of people to workout with, HealthyU is for you.
Complete the Initial HealthyU program to: 
Find out your fitness baseline through an initial assessment 
Learn more about nutrition for every day health 
Become more confident in the gym through Personal Trainer lead fitness classes 
Create a fitness routine with your HealthyU community! 

Initial assessment will be scheduled with one of your coaches prior to or during the first week of each session

Keep Moving!

Enjoy this lower-intensity, traditional fitness class that combines cardio and simple low-impact movements including strength, core conditioning, flexibility, stability, mobility and balance work. This program is for all fitness levels and will give you a full-body workout that will keep you moving in a non-intimidating environment. While this class is designed for older adults it is open to all ages and fitness levels. 
Participants who are over 60 and are not University staff or students may purchase a Senior's Parking pass from Client Services. 

Learn To Lift

Learn lifting technique, proper form, injury prevention, and more in a small-group workshop! With a limited number of people in class, our certified personal trainer will guide you through the basics of lifting by focusing on technique, form and safety. Expect instruction on the core lifts, including squats, deadlifts, lunges, bench press, overhead press and rows while using barbells, dumbbells, and other equipment. 
Each session is 60 minutes in length and includes direction from one of our certified personal trainers.  
All U of C Personal Fitness Trainers have a nationally recognized personal training certification. Our team of professionals participate in ongoing training to ensure you are getting the most current information and training principles. 
*Intake forms and waivers MUST be completed prior to starting class 
**Some sessions that will take place in various studios in Kinesiology - Trainer will provide details 

LIFT

Work on lifting technique, proper form, injury prevention, and more in this specialized class! Our certified personal trainer will guide you through technique, variations and progressions of lifting. Expect instruction on the core lifts, including squats, deadlifts, lunges, bench press, overhead press and rows while using barbells, dumbbells, and other equipment. Learn compound complex movements to help bring your lifting days to the next level. 
This workshop is for intermediate and advanced lifters looking to improve their technique and try new progressions in a safe, trainer-led environment.   

Lunchtime Quickie

In this class, you will get an effective full-body workout that combines strength, cardio, and flexibility. Bodyweight, free weights, kettlebells, slam balls, stability balls, BOSU’s and more will be used to improve strength and endurance. Get you heart pumping and muscles moving and still have time for lunch. Suitable for all levels.

Mindful Monday Yoga

Clear the cobwebs and start your week grounded and focused with this gentle yoga class for students and staff. Yoga Flow combines mindful movement, breathwork, and stretches to help you step into Monday grounded with calm, clarity and focus. Perfect before a busy day of classes or meetings. No experience needed—everyone is welcome.

Pilates

Pilates is a full body workout as the exercises develop the body through muscular efforts that stem from the core. This class focuses on repetitive exercises performed on a yoga mat along with other equipment to build strength, mobility and flexibility. Open to all fitness levels.

Power Down Yoga

After a long week, letting go of the work week challenges can be difficult. Join us in our Power Down yoga class and experience longer holds, deeper breathing and a clearing of the mind to reset and refocus for the weekend. Suitable for all levels.

Self Defense

Learn the basics of self-defense in this 90-minute, dynamic class. From how to spot potential dangers, to what to do to protect yourself, you'll get an in-depth demonstration of how best to defend yourself in various scenarios.  
*Note that this class is mixed gendered and will involve physical contact. 

UFlourish

Yoga Core

In this yoga class you will explore traditional sun salutations and yoga poses while allowing for more varied practice. You’ll focus on breath, building full body strength, flexibility, proper body alignment, and with an added focus on building core stability. Options will be given for all levels, from beginners to those looking for more challenge.

This dynamic flow class incorporates traditional sun salutations and yoga poses while allowing for more varied practice. You’ll focus on breath, building full body strength, core stability, flexibility, and proper body alignment. Options will be given for all levels, from beginners to those looking for more challenge. 

Gymnastic FIT

Gymnasts have amazing overall fitness. Come and train in the Gymnastics Centre using the same kinds of exercises we use to condition our athletes. Exercises will utilize the various apparatus in the gym to build strength, stamina, flexibility, balance and co-ordination utilizing body weight exercises. Some light resistance may be achieved  with resistance and therapy bands and sliders. This 45 minute structured class will utilize a variety of training techniques such as circuits and intervals ensure a workout that will be dynamic, engaging and challenging to any fitness level.
