Every 3 years, participants must refresh their skills. This program is delivered over 6 days of instruction, supplemented with additional online learning. Instructional time includes both practical scenarios in both workplace and wilderness settings. This course requires a high level of commitment from participants, and requires the completion of pre-reading and online learning assignments prior to the first classroom session. The WFR recertification program focuses on practical skills, scenarios, and simulations, with most theoretical concepts reviewed through online learning.
This course is suitable for industry professionals who require the AFA/OFA3 level of certification for professional use. Recreationalists planning remote expeditions and outdoor leaders not requiring the advanced workplace certification may prefer to switch to the
80-hour WFR & IFA stream instead.
This course is run as an 5-day Advanced First Aid recert, with the final day providing the supplementary wilderness content for the Wilderness First Responder re-certification.
