Bronze Cross

Bronze Cross begins the transition from lifesaving to lifeguarding and prepares candidates for responsibilities as assistant lifeguards. Candidates strengthen and expand their lifesaving skills and begin to apply the principles and techniques of active surveillance in aquatic facilities. Bronze Cross emphasizes the importance of teamwork and communication in preventing and responding to aquatic emergencies. This course is designed for lifesavers who want the challenge of more advanced training including an introduction to safe supervision in aquatic facilities. Bronze Cross is a prerequisite for all advanced training programs including National Lifeguard and Instructor certification. Includes a timed 400 m swim.

Bronze Medallion

The Lifesaving Society's Bronze Medallion course challenges candidates both mentally and physically. This program teaches an understanding of the lifesaving principles; judgment, knowledge, skills and fitness. Rescuers learn tows and carries and practice challenging rescues which involve conscious and unconscious victims, while also emphasizing the importance of teamwork and communication in preventing and responding to aquatic emergencies. Bronze Medallion is a prerequisite for assistant lifeguard training in Bronze Cross.

Lifeguard Bootcamp

Our month-long Lifeguard Bootcamp is an intensive, all-in-one certification program designed to fast-track motivated candidates into fully qualified, job-ready professional lifeguards. In just four weeks, participants will complete all required certifications through the Lifesaving Society, gaining the skills, confidence, and credentials needed to work at any aquatic facility.

National Lifeguard

The primary role of the National Lifeguard is the prevention of emergency situations and the timely and effective resolution of emergencies. The National Lifeguard certification prepares lifeguards to fulfill this role as professional facilitators of safe, enjoyable aquatics. The Lifesaving Society’s National Lifeguard certification builds on the fundamental skills, knowledge, fitness, judgment and values taught in the prerequisite Lifesaving Society lifesaving certifications. This course will develop the basic lifeguarding skills, principles, and decision-making process to help lifeguards evaluate and adapt to different aquatic facilities and emergencies.

NL (National Lifeguard) Recertification

The NL Recertification clinic is highly recommended for all lifeguards. Recertification of your National Lifeguard (NL) certification is based on the ability to meet ALL performance criteria (Must Sees) laid out by the Lifesaving Society. Candidates are encouraged to practice skills and review knowledge to prepare for the recertification course. Ongoing training and maintaining an appropriate level of fitness is important to being able to lifeguard effectively.
