Collaboratively, they'll employ various design techniques and planning methods, exploring materials, scales, and crafting models to bring their design ideas to life. Utilizing downtown Calgary as a full-scale laboratory, campers will draw inspiration from the vibrant cityscape, designing beautiful buildings and landscapes to create their very own downtown. Entering Grades 5 – 10
What does it take to build a great city? Aspiring architects and young urban visionaries interested in architecture and urbanism are invited to join our students from the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape in a collaborative exploration of this question. Design skills and knowledge will be developed through skill building and downtown exploration. Building on a shared experience of design and local community making, we explore new ways of collaborating and co-creating. Choosing a site in downtown Calgary, participants will be challenged to redesign an aspect of the city/public space and present a proposal to transform its function, appearance, accessibility, and other characteristics. We’ll seek inspiration right here, using downtown Calgary as a full-scale laboratory to explore, observe and design beautiful buildings, landscapes and envision future scenarios for urban spaces. Learn how to tackle complex problems using your design skills and start crafting your future career making Calgary the place you imagine it to be!

Mini Dungeon Masters
Looks like somebody rolled a natural 20 on their luck check when looking for a camp to enrol their adventurer in this summer! This camp will introduce the skills and terminology kids will need to play Dungeons & Dragons®* both as a Dungeon Master (the person who leads the game) or as a player (the people who the DM leads). Campers will go adventuring in their imagination by exploring how to build interesting characters, a believable world for them to exist in, and their own lore while adventuring with other creative campers. A highlight of this camp involves designing and painting a 3D printed miniature of a character from Hero Forge®*. No experience is required but an openness to learn and a positive attitude is helpful on the journey. So grab your explorer's bag, some food, and a bottle of sunscreen because we are questing for dragons! Each day is balanced with a variety of outdoor games & activities led by our camp leaders.

Sign up for a dose of fun, STAT! Discover the fascinating field of medicine through hands-on activities at MediCamp this summer! Our MediCamp instructor is busy planning new and exciting challenges, while bringing back some favourite, well-known lessons we're positive every camper will love! This one-week camp encourages kids to engage in a variety of experiments, activities and challenges in a professional laboratory. Campers will explore how the human body functions, the basics of nutrition, exercise, stress, practice some First Aid, and learn about a variety of healthcare professions. Each day is balanced with a variety of outdoor games & activities led by our camp leaders. Campers will also have the opportunity to play fun lifeguard-led games in the pool at our indoor Aquatic Centre! Everyone will have to do a swim test and lifejackets will always be readily available.
Kreative Kids Digital Arts
Bring out your kids’ artistic side and ignite their imagination this summer at one of our Kreative Kids camps! Our digital arts instructor is busy planning new and exciting activities, while bringing back some favourite, well-known lessons we're positive every camper will love! This one-week camp encourages kids to discover their budding passion for digital art through a variety of art projects.Campers will learn how to make digital art using a drawing tablet, take some photographs outside, and be introduced to photo & image editing. Each day is balanced with a variety of outdoor games & activities led by our camp leaders. Campers will also have the opportunity to play fun lifeguard-led games in the pool at our indoor Aquatic Centre! Everyone will have to do a swim test and lifejackets will always be readily available.
Library De-Tech-Tives
Calling all history spies, library sleuths, cultural inspectors, and digital detectives to the Taylor Family Digital Library’s Summer Camp! Each week, campers will be joined by our team of archivist, curator, librarian, and digital maker experts to investigate the unique collections and programs at TFDL. Step into their shoes and investigate a world of possibilities!
Whether getting up close and personal with the artworks at the Nickle Galleries, exploring Indigenous ways of knowing through storytelling games and art, visiting our archives and special collections to get insider views of the past, or testing out nifty new digital technologies, each week campers will get a behind the scenes adventure in the new world of libraries, archives, and museums. Who knows what other surprises and mysteries there might be in the stacks!
Sessions will focus on hands-on activities, and between sessions there will be body breaks to keep the campers moving, having fun and staying engaged all day long. If your child loves creating, doing something new every day, and investigating the past and future, this is the camp for them!
Stay Safe and Babysitting Camp
This camps teaches basic first aid and caregiving skills to youth 11-16 years old. Participants learn how to provide care to children in a variety of age groups, and how to prevent and respond to emergencies. The course also offers youth the skills to promote themselves as babysitters to prospective families.
Veterinary Camp
Ever thought of becoming a veterinarian? Do you love animals big and small? This online camp will introduce you to some of the skills and knowledge veterinarians need to take care of a variety of species.
Provided by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, you'll have fun learning from veterinary students each day with approximately 2.5hrs of live (online) interactive sessions, scheduled between 9 a.m and 3 p.m (Mountain Time). You will also receive a fabulous swag bag of goodies that includes a genuine veterinarian scrub top and materials for the at-home activities.
Adapted Sport & Recreation Summer Camp
Come discover your abilities! This camp is centred upon giving youth with disabilities the opportunity to explore various adapted sport, recreational and leisure activities. Different programs from the Calgary area provide the opportunity for each camper to experience a trial of the adapted physical activity programming they offer throughout the year. Campers get to challenge themselves physically through activities such as: yoga, gymnastics, dance, boccia, karate, tennis, sledge hockey, cycling, swimming, VOLT Hockey and a variety of wheelchair sports like basketball and fencing. Please note that the described activities are subject to change and are presented as examples only. Campers also get to explore their creative side through arts & crafts projects in between activity sessions. The goal of this camp is to increase each camper’s confidence in their ability to participate in school and community programs. This camp is offered in partnership with the Vi Riddell Pediatric Rehabilitation Research Program and The Calgary Adapted Hub Powered by Jumpstart.
UCalgary Youth Programs does not provide intimate & personal care for participants. Those cares include any toileting needs, feeding, dressing, changing continence pads (faeces/urine), washing intimate parts of the body, changing sanitary wear, delivering medication such as insulin, or other personal hygiene activities.
Participants who require this level of care must provide their own personal aide/support. The Adapted Sport & Recreation Summer Camp run by The University of Calgary is a
Calgary Adapted Hub Powered by Jumpstart program. The Calgary Adapted Hub is a collective of 12 Calgary-based organizations, including UCalgary's Active Living. The Calgary Adapted Hub is committed to providing quality inclusive and accessible sport and recreation programs for all children in Calgary. To ensure our programs are achieving this goal, our team is evaluating the impact of this program on aspects of health and wellbeing, quality of life, economic impact, and social inclusion. Our study has been approved by the University of Calgary Conjoint Health Research Ethics Board (REB18-0292) and Mount Royal University’s Human Research Ethics Board (102684).

Bronze Medallion/Cross
The Lifesaving Society's Bronze Medallion and Cross course challenges candidates both mentally and physically. Judgement, knowledge, skill, and fitness – the four components of water rescue – form the basis of Bronze Medallion/Cross training. This course emphasizes the importance of teamwork and communication in preventing and responding to aquatic emergencies. Complete two courses for the price of one with this combined camp.
Comic Book Creators
Bring out your kids’ artistic side and ignite their imagination at our Comic Book Creators camp this summer! Our instructor is busy planning new and exciting activities, while bringing back some favourite, well-known lessons we're positive every camper will love! This one-week camp encourages kids to discover their budding passion for comic books and graphic novels through a variety of projects and is designed for kids who want to learn more about how comics are made so they can create some of their own. Our instructor will introduce the creative process of comic book creation and encourage campers to explore their own ideas in a safe and supportive environment. Campers will explore topics including: brainstorming, character and story ideas, sketching, and drawing. Each day is balanced with a variety of outdoor games & activities led by our camp leaders. Campers entering Grades 5-7 will also have the opportunity to play fun lifeguard-led games in the pool at our indoor Aquatic Centre! Dinos Basketball Camps
BOYS: Improving your skills is a slam-dunk with the Dinos Basketball Camps. It is the perfect place to get active and compete against other players from the Calgary and surrounding area. Participants will benefit from the technical training and will be instructed by current and former University of Calgary players and coaches. Get ready to learn basketball individual skills, fundamentals, conditioning methods and team-play tactics. these camps will satisfy the hard-core ballers as well as the beginner level players! Gymnastics Camp [Calgary]
Engage your child’s mind and body this summer at our gymnastics summer camp. This camp is designed by Active Living’s experienced Gymnastics Coaches to improve your child’s strength, balance, coordination and movement skills in a supportive and encouraging environment. Activities in the Gymnastics Centre will provide skill development at each individual's level on a variety of gymnastic apparatuses utilizing stations that are designed to develop fundamental movement patterns in a fun and safe way. No experience is necessary! Everyone will find something to enjoy in this camp that is designed to get kids moving and learning new skills.

Mini Chefs
At our new culinary camp, your child will learn how to make a variety of snacks and meals by learning from our Instructor and making food together. Campers will roll up their sleeves and get hands-on experience in the kitchen so they are more confident making food for themselves. They'll learn basic food preparation, knife skills (with cut resistant gloves), and kitchen safety under the guidance of our experienced Instructors. Our camp provides a safe, engaging, and fun environment where kids can develop basic kitchen skills, unlock their creativity, and most importantly, have a blast in the process. Mountain Bike Camp
Gear up for an adrenaline-fueled ride and let's kick up some dust on the trails this summer! Join our week-long camp where we'll immerse you in the world of mountain biking. From mastering the basics like braking, balance, and body positioning to the thrill of gearing, cornering, and trail maneuvering, we've got it all covered. The first two days are all about conquering local trails and building skills, and then the real adventure kicks in as we spend the rest of the week tearing it up on the wild trails of Kananaskis and Bragg Creek. Get ready to shred, laugh, and make memories that pedal straight into the fun zone!

Needle & Fibre Arts
Bring out your kids’ artistic side and ignite their imagination this summer at our Needle & Fibre Arts camp! Our fibre arts instructor is busy planning new and exciting activities, while bringing back some favourite, well-known lessons we're positive every camper will love! This one-week camp encourages kids to discover their budding passion for the fibre arts through a variety of art projects. Using a range of different sewing, knitting, crocheting, macrame, hand embroidery, and punch needle techniques, campers will be excited to share their unique creations with you at the end of the week! Each day is balanced with a variety of outdoor games & activities led by our camp leaders. Campers entering Grades 5-7 will also have the opportunity to play fun lifeguard-led games in the pool at our indoor Aquatic Centre! Everyone will have to do a swim test and lifejackets will always be readily available. There will be no swimming time for campers entering Grades 8-10 or on August 5 due to the statutory holiday.
Racquet Sports Camp
Why let your kids create a racket at home when they can explore the world of racquet sports at our Summer Camp? We offer an exciting mix of Tennis, Badminton, Squash, Racquetball, and Pickleball.
Throughout the week, they'll dive into the rules of each sport, getting hands-on experience to foster skill development. Each day brings a new racquet sport to master, ensuring a dynamic and engaging experience.
Beyond the court, our camp includes outdoor activities that promote social interaction and team building. Give your child a summer filled with fun, skill-building, and memorable experiences at our Racquet Centre Summer Camp!
Senior Claymation and Lego Animation
Fill your week with action, adventure and a lot of comedy with Film Camp in A Box Senior Claymation and Lego animation camp. Mentored by master filmmakers, campers will engage in hands-on exploration of the stop motion animation process, including pre production, production and post production. Working in small crews, they will learn about stop motion animation, set design, script writing and editing. Campers will then create their own stop motion animation and edit a short film and movie trailer, complete with sound effects, music, voice, sound effects and special effects. Movies will be presented at our red carpet, popcorn film festival and archived on our digital theatre.
Senior Filmmaking
Fill your week with action, adventure and a lot of comedy with Film Camp in A Box movie making camp. Mentored by master filmmakers, campers will engage in hands-on exploration of the filmmaking process, including pre production, production and post production. Working in small crews, they will learn about cinematography, script writing and editing on Final Cut Pro. Campers will then create, act in and edit a short film and movie trailer, adding special effects, music, voices, titles and sound effects. Participants will have the opportunity to use our latest technology, including Mac books, 4K cameras, tripods, boom microphones, green screens and the use of an aerial drone. Crews will also create their own promotions and advertising links to showcase their music video the world. Movies will be presented at our red carpet, popcorn film festival and archived on our digital theatre.
Senior Music Video Production
Rock and Roll all night and every day in our Music Video Production workshop. Mentored by master filmmakers, campers will engage in hands-on exploration of the music video production process, including pre production, production and post production. Working collaboratively in small crews, they will learn about cinematography specific to music videos and advanced editing techniques. Using an existing pop culture song, campers will listen to the lyrics, learn them and create their own story and meaning. They will then act in and edit their full music video. Crews will also create their own promotions and advertising links to showcase their music video the world. Movies will be presented at our red carpet, popcorn film festival and archived on our digital theatre.
Teen Mountain Bike Day Camp
Calgary & Kananaskis have some of the best mountain biking terrain in the world! The group will spend 1 day in the city learning the basics and the next 2 days out in Kananaskis skills. You’ll learn about and practice body positioning, gearing, cornering, and maneuvering on trails. Trail selection, bike maintenance, and outdoor skills are also introduced.

Teen Songsmiths
Testing, testing. 1-2-3! Amp up your upcoming platinum-label teen wonder in our song writing focused camp this summer! Our instructor, who is a well versed musical educator, is busy planning new and exciting activities and lessons we're positive every camper will love! This camp is designed to build upon teens' existing love and passion for music and composing. Although not required, being able to sing, play the piano, guitar or ukulele will greatly enhance the overall experience. Campers will explore a popular area within the field of music where they will be guided through ideating, composing, and recording their own songs throughout the week. Small group improv, album art design, and working with basic recording software are a few of the opportunities these rising musicians can look forward to in this camp designed to expand their musical journeys. Each day is balanced with a variety of outdoor games & activities led by our camp leaders.
Youth Triathlon Summer Camp
A triathlon is a multi-sport endurance event with swimming, cycling and running in immediate succession over various distances. The triathlon camp is offered by University of Calgary Triathlon Club, the longest-serving Triathlon Club in Canada. At this week-long intensive camp, participants learn proper biking, running and swimming techniques from highly trained coaches. Camp activities will develop aerobic and anaerobic systems to give a good base for all sports. Participants will have fun with other youth at the same level, with progression from start up, all the way to Junior National Team level training. They will also be introduced to the different technical aspects of the sport while receiving coaching to improve their transition times and overall performance. Each day is balanced with a variety of fun indoor & outdoor activities, too.
Please bring appropriate swim attire & equipment, as participants will be swimming on a daily basis. Participants will also be biking daily. For safety and security, a bike lock is required as well as the ability to transport the bike to and from camp as Active Living does not have any overnight storage space.

Tour de Calgary 301
Get ready for a pedal-powered adventure that’s the ultimate kid-friendly Tour de Calgary! Join us as we cruise along the city’s awesome pathways, explore parks, dive into swimming fun, and master the art of bouldering or climbing. Thrill of the Catch
Go out on a reel adventure and get hooked on the thrill of fishing in this introductory week-long camp! Each day we’ll travel to a new lake or pond around the city or in Kananaskis to learn basic fishing techniques. We'll also spend a day at the Bow Habitat Station, unraveling the fishy mysteries of their lifecycle, habitat, and how to be the ultimate ecosystem protector. Join us for a week of fishing, learning, and unforgettable outdoor escapades!

Kananaskis Explorers
Spend a week sampling some of the best outdoor activities in and out of the city limits! We’ll head out to Kananaskis to hit the trails for mountain biking and hiking, soak up the summer sun while stand-up paddleboarding, and test out our survival skills. One day will be spent in the city where we’ll dip into the waters of Bowness Park with our canoes. Don’t miss out on the best of the great outdoors—join the fun and let the adventure begin!

World of Watersports
Get ready to make a splash in our week-long watersports camp at Bowness Park! From conquering calm waters with canoeing, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding to tackling the thrilling waves of the Bow River in Calgary, every day is a new aquatic adventure! Dive in for a summer of watery fun, meet awesome people, and soak up new skills that will make a splash in your summer memories.
Prerequisite:- Able to swim 50m while wearing a lifejacket
Climb On!
Defy gravity and reach new heights all week! You’ll spend half the day wall climbing and/or bouldering indoors and the other half outside playing games, swimming, biking, and visiting kid-friendly places in the city.

Teen Canoe ABC Day Camp
Spend 3 days learning all about canoeing! On the first day, participants will learn the basics at Bowness Lagoon. On day 2, you’ll progress your skills to the eddies with an introduction to moving water. Finally, on day 3, you’ll test out your newly acquired skills on a full day river run from Bowness to Inglewood. Our guides will cover water safety, paddling strokes, river reading, navigation, and what is needed for a day of paddling.
Please Note: Drop-Off/Pick-Up occurs and Bowness Park, except for the Friday afternoon where Pick-Up will be in Inglewood.

Dinos Hockey Camps
Lace up for an excellent hockey experience at a Dinos Hockey Camp this summer! Participants will benefit from technical training and be led by current and former University of Calgary players and coaches. Hit the ice to hone your individual skills and learn advanced team play and tactics. Step off the ice and put your training into overdrive with dry-land training, team building games and video sessions. Goalies will get individual instruction, but will also be part of the player’s camp, which allows them to incorporate what they have worked on with the instructors.

Dinos Swimming Camps
Dive into the season early with the Dinos Swim Camps! These competitive swim camps will give your athlete the edge they need to start the season a stroke ahead of the competition. Our CSCTA-certified Olympic level University of Calgary swim program coaches provide a technique-based program with a focus on all four strokes, starts, and turns. There will also be training sessions focused on conditioning while maintaining and developing technique. With two in-water sessions daily, classroom learning, outdoor dry-land training, yoga stretching as welll as some mindfullness training, and chances to earn daily prizes the Dinos Swim Camps provide an exciting opportunity to learn, practice, and have fun.
This camp is for competitive swimmers and all participants must be a Swim Canada member and have a Swim Canada ID.

Lifeguarding Camp
If you’re thinking of becoming a lifeguard, this camp is for you! Swimmers will be introduced to lifeguard rescue and first aid skills. Have fun with rescue tubes and other lifeguard tools. This camp will also provide you with the opportunity to review your swimming skills and gain added insight on your strokes. Instructors will give an orientation to lifeguard programs. Each day is balanced with a variety of indoor and outdoor games and activities led by our Camp Leaders.
Gymnastics Summer Camps [Cochrane]
Whether you are new to the sport of gymnastics or an existing gymnast who wants to learn some new fun tricks, our Summer Camps are for you! Summer camps run for 4 or 5 consecutive days and can be done as a as a full day camp or you can just choose to do a morning or afternoon week long camp. (see age requirements for full day). All camps are co-ed and groups will be divided into the most appropriate age & ability on the first day. While our camps are primarily gymnastics based, we also incorporate team building, crafts, games and much more. *Themes are lightly incorporated. All campers must be able to use the washroom facilities unassisted.
Preschool Campers--ages 4-5 (coed)
We are proud to offer our 4-5 year old preschool camps, either a week of morning camp OR afternoon camp. (Please do not register for both within the same week, as we find a full day is too much for this age group). Themes for each week of camp will be lightly incorporated into our programming, with lots of fun, games, gymnastic skills and more. Children MUST be able to follow instruction and use the washroom facility without assistance. Click on 'show details' for more information.
Recreation Campers - age 6-13 (coed)
Our Recreation camps are an excellent way to keep active during the summer and gain buckets of strength, flexibility, coordination in a very fun-filled environment, with themes lightly incorporated. With our inground trampoline, 40-foot tumble track, uneven bars, balance beams, vaulting table and tons of specialized equipment geared towards fun, fitness, and fundamentals of gymnastics! Our qualified coaches will make the week very fun and engaging while lifelong friendships develop over the course of the week with like-minded kids. *NOTE: Trampoline and Tumbling programs for the Recreation Program will be incorporated as part of our overall summer camp and will all remain coed. However, we are offering one specific Trampoline & Tumbling Half Day Camp for our recreational athletes (please inquire if you need more information). Half and full day options available for recreational camps, click on 'show details' for more information. If you are registering for a half day camp you may only register for AM or PM, not both, unless you are able to do lunch pick up/sign out and drop off/sign in (pick up at 12 and drop off at 1pm, with an adult as they need to be signed out and in).

Wilderness Survivor
Take your survival skills to the next level in this week-long camp! We'll head into Kananaskis for the first two days, where hiking is just the warm-up. You'll master survival skills like navigation and fire building, then head back to campus to level up your shelter-building game at our Natural Adventure Park. The last two days are a survival mission, putting your skills to the test as you spend the night in a shelter you crafted yourself! Get set for a week of survival mastery, laughs, and unforgettable outdoor escapades!

Outdoor Winter Break Camp
Spend the winter holiday having fun and playing in the snow! We plan to drive to Kananaskis for 2 days of snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and building snow forts. The other 2 days will be spent bouldering and/or wall climbing, swimming, building snow forts and more!
