Prepare for Day Hiking

Want to experience the Rocky Mountains up close this summer? Get started on the right foot in this 2-hour lecture and learn about clothing for hiking, footwear selection, blister prevention, daypack essentials, animal safety and suggestions for great places to hike. Prerequisite: none. Includes: instructor.

Intro To Backpacking

Perfect for the beginner backpacker, this course combines the Backpacking Basics Lecture with an easy overnight trip in Kananaskis. Learn the skills needed to enjoy multi-day backcountry trips, then head out with an experienced guide to put it all into practice.
Prerequisite: good physical condition. Includes: guide, overnight permits/fees, group camping gear.
Trips will open for registration in April once bookings are confirmed.

Local Backpacking Trips

Our local backpacking trips visit a variety of trails, both well-known and hidden gems. Watch for new destinations each year.
A pre-trip lecture covers the logistics of group camping. 
Prerequisite: good physical condition and backpacking experience. 
Includes: guide, permits, camping fees, group camping gear (we will be sharing 2 and 3-person MSR tents and cooking shared meals on liquid fuel stoves).
Transportation to and from trailheads is by carpool.

Summer 2026 trips will be posted for registration in April-May, once bookings are confirmed.
